Part 9: Renovations - Renovations - Renovations

A renovation involving the toilet is simple if the valve works and the bolts are not rusted that hold the toilet down. There often is rot around the base of the toilet, all problems obviously need to be repaired before the new toilet can be installed. Most new toilets are water savers using much less water than order style ones. Elongated toilets are best if you have young children, and if the bathroom is large enough. If space is limited a more round toilet is practical. Renovations involving the shower or shower-tub are a bit more complicated since there are more options. Again the more simple the renovation, the less expensive. Going with the same style base, and surround is the most economical. Renovations of this type also take much less time than custom changes. Staying with the same size and type of base is the most simple change unless of course the owner wants to keep the old base. Renovations that involve door or curtain changes are also straightforward as long as they stay the same size. It's also very simple to change your valves or shower heads as long as all valves function properly with no leakage. Renovations requiring new tile requires quite a bit of labor intensity. A complication would be if the walls are damaged, an underlayment of cement board is a prerequisite to tile. It is water-proof and has a very smooth base.
