Framing

Now that the foundation is finished and passes inspection, any changes to the structure have to conform to the "foot print" of the foundation, except using a "cantilever."

A cantilever is framing an overhang passed the foundation! In New Jersey, a 24" overhang is allowed if the floor joists are at least 8' long. An engineer can design a larger overhang, but it would incur extra costs for his fees.
